In a tight final against earlier draw winners Douglas Ridgewell (Griffith),
Michael Grosse (Lyons) and Josh Pope (2007 Champion), Michael drew clear in the
end with a score of 0, with the others ending with 7,8 and 14!
The tournament was run as part of the Australian Games Expo in Albury, and
consisted of four knockout rounds. Contestants came from far and wide and in all
shapes and sizes.
The winner of each round received a Blokus Giant board game, while the
tournament winner also received a $500 Gift voucher from Mind Games Albury,
along with a certificate declaring them as the Australian Blokus Champion 2008.
The Australian Games Expo is in its third year, and is run over the Queen’s
Birthday weekend and is based on both the Chicago and the Essen Games Fairs. The
Australian Games Expo is not a trade fair, but is open to the public, and
significantly, is a family-oriented event. More information can be found at

While run very much as a "not for sheep-stations" type event in previous years, in 2009, we up the stakes with the winner receiving a trip to Europe to represent Australia at the European Blokus tournament.
