Fun, quick 4 player game. This game just does not get old.
Deceptively simple, addicting, and fun. It's more strategic than you would think. Do you extend in to a new area? Do you block off an opponent? Or can you do both with the same piece? Great game!
It's beautiful, it's challenging, it's down right hard at times. What more could one ask for in an abstract strategy game?
Fantastic game.
Easily one of our favorite games -- 2, 3, and 4 player games all different, but very interesting.
Elegant abstract strategy game that works very well. Players attempt to place as many of their 21 pieces onto the board as possible. Pieces may only touch like-coloured pieces at diagonal corners. Theoretically there is room for every piece, with some change, however it never works out that way. Very addictive game.
Simple game, fun to play. One of my favorites.
Fabulous tile laying game.............can only connect pieces at diagonal corners.
| 8.5 | Excellent abstract game; best with 4 players. Lovely pieces and easy to learn. |
Great little abstract strategy game for four people. The rules can be explained in like two seconds and it has a 'puzzle-ish' quality, both of which means women tend to like it. Your performance in the game however, tends to be a function of how many times others evilate you. Excellent production.
The very first play will bring a few surprises. Following games will reveal the different stratagies needed to get the most pieces on the board. Great bits and pieces, easy to learn, quick and easy to play.
4 is the optimum number for this game. 2 works as well. With 3 (played with a simulated 4th player), the player who sits between two real players has a disadvantage.
Pure strategy, very clever game. Hard to master.
I really liked this, which means I can add it to a rather short list of pure abstracts that appeal to me. It's neat on multiple levels, and it's more than just lookahead, there are strategic elements.
The beauty of geometry in games. Great abstract game for 4 with such a simple set of rules. (I use Forma to play Blokus.)
Great abstract game with beautiful components. Good for non-gamers as well. Short. Thought provoking but not weighty. Requires a ton of room, though, as you need to see every single one of every player's pieces. With three players this game offers a VERY interesting twist--players take turns controlling a fourth non-player. This way, the game offers opportunity for interesting long-term and short-term planning and decisions. Though I will admit, you should put the best player between the other two live players.
Top-tier abstract strategy game with high replay value. Full of surprises. I thought I would hate this game.
Really nice as a four-player game--I'm a bit less impressed with the 2&3er variants, but still fun to play.
Try the website game. Personally I liked this game. Better abstract strategy games are put there. But this one is very fun and easy to play.
| 7.5 | Nice abstract strategy game that's well made. I find it very addicting. The play goes quickly. This game is difficult to find in the US. I finally found mine at www.Bouldergames.com |
| 7.5 | Fun game. Kids and women seem to like it too. Anyone who enjoyed Tetris should also check this game out. |
quick fun.
Played the online version at www.blokus.com. Clever, and eventually reveals fairly deep strategies. However, I'm not sure if it rates a Spiel Des Jahre award.
This is a very addicting game that everyone seems to take to right away. You do need 4 players to really enjoy it. If it worked equally well with 2 or even 3 players, then I would give it a 9 or 10.
Played online on the www.blokus.com website. I personally haven't seen the board and pieces but production quality appears to be above average. A good game with 2 or 4 however I could see it being fairly repetitive, especially among good players
Very enjoyable, and normally I'm not that keen on abstract games. But it's fast, not too taxing and nevertheless provides interesting puzzles to ponder, especially near the end. Looks like it came straight out of Star Trek, which may or may not be a good thing. Works very well as a two player game, but it's better with four players. Played 10+ times.
Nifty game of colored geometric blocks that seem to hate each other.
An interesting tile-laying game, although the components are giving me nasty Skirrid flashbacks. In multi-player, it seems it's not so much how your opponents develop, but in whose territory they plan to strike. I would be most interested in playing this 2-player.
Tetris in a board game sort of.
DRY DRY DRY. I'm no abstract strategian tho.
| LOOK - do we have this under a different name?? |
