Peoples
of the Planet gains recognition at Anti-Racism Awards
At a
gala reception on 16th August 2001 at Parliament House Melbourne, Divisible by
Zero were presented with their National Corporate Anti-Racism Award,
in the small-business category, for their work involved in the game Peoples
of the Planet.
Peoples
of the Planet
is a trivia style game played on a series of game boards known as the Great
Book of Ages, each representing one of nine major human development time
periods, from prehistoric man to current day.
The
focus of the game is on a better understanding of the different cultures and
customs of people from around the world both today and in the past. Each of
the question cards presents questions and answers that help us better understand
the rich diversity and extraordinary traditions of the human race.
The
Corporate Anti-Racism Awards are presented by the Bnai Brith
Anti-Defamation Commission and the Australian Multicultural Foundation. The
award winners were selected by a panel of distinguished Australians, including
former Governor General the Rt Hon Sir Zelman Cowen, and former Prime Ministers
the Hon Bob Hawke and the Rt Hon Malcolm Fraser.
David Brennan, accepting the award on behalf of Divisible by Zero, acknowledged the recognition of the value of Peoples of the Planet:
Racism
and discrimination frequently stems from a lack of understanding. Peoples of the
Planet aims to help address this by presenting facts and insight into different
cultures and customs in an entertaining and engaging manner.
Its
is a resource for both adults and children that can help them understand
differences and acknowledge them as just that not right, not wrong just
different.
Peoples
of the Planet is
one of a series of games from Bioviva Editions that help
to both educate and entertain. Prominent amongst these is Bioviva
the trivia style game focussed on Science, Nature and the Environment. Bioviva
is considered one of the most awarded educational games, with thirteen
international awards ranging from Ecological product of the Year to Best New
Trivia Game. Peoples of the Planet is now well on its way to better this!
Brunswick based Divisible By Zero, in inner city Melbourne, operates as an importer, manufacturer and distributor of educational and environmentally focussed products. Apart from managing the range of Bioviva Editions games, and other educational resources, they also manufacture a unique range of recycled tyre swings, hand sculptured into the shape of animals.
The
Bnai Brith Anti Defamation Commission (ADC) is Australias only national
organisation dedicated to researching and combating all forms of racism.
The
Australian Multicultural Foundation (AMF) was established in 1988 as a legacy of
the Australian Bicentennial year. Amongst its aims is the desire to cultivate in
all Australians a strong commitment to Australia as one people drawn from many
cultures, and by doing so, advance its social and economic well being.
The National Corporate Ant-Racism Awards are now in their third year, and are jointly presented by the ADC and AMF. Awards are presented in the categories of Small Business, Large Business, Government Agency and Cultural Organisation.
